Cold-room temperature log
A waterproof probe inside the cold room logs temperature and alerts when it leaves the safe range. About $39 in parts.
Parts
- ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 (N8R8) C-001$19.95
- DS18B20 Waterproof Temperature Probe P-002$9.95
- USB-C 5.1 V 3 A Power Supply E-005$8.74
Parts $38.64 · powered by the USB-C 5.1 V 3 A Power Supply
- Note: The USB-C 5.1 V 3 A Power Supply's plug (usb-c-v1) doesn't fit the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 (N8R8)'s port (usb-micro-b-v1). You'll need an adapter cable, which isn't in the parts list.
Wiring
The volts are the parts' own: the USB-C 5.1 V 3 A Power Supply puts out 4.845–5.355 V, and the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 (N8R8)'s regulator makes the 3.251–3.349 V rail its GPIO and most of the sensors run from. Which header pin each lead lands on is our suggestion — the registry has no pin map, and nothing here has been wired on a bench.
Power the board off while you plug anything in. Every connector here is keyed: if it doesn't click in easily, turn it over rather than forcing it.
- Note: One-Wire needs a 4.7 kΩ pull-up from the data line to VCC. It isn't in the parts list.
